The Art of Viniyoga Foundation Course is a prerequisite for any students who wish to complete the two year Sadhana Mala Teacher Training Course.

This course also provides a great opportunity for anyone who wishes to deepen their personal yoga practice and understanding of this authentic tradition.

It also the gateway programme for students who wish to access other trainings from Sadhana Mala.

During this course you will explore:

  • movement of the spine
  • the principles behind asana
  • counter posture
  • breath in asana
  • sequencing
  • key concepts from the Yoga Sutra (including group chanting)
  • the intelligent cultivation of pranayama
  • history of Yoga

The course is structured over seven days including one introductory day and three weekends.

In preparation for each weekend, participants will be required to watch a series of short films and make notes.

The short films have been produced specifically for this course by Dave Charleton and Ranju Roy from Sadhana Mala and authors of Embodying the Yoga Sutras.

The short films contain significant and in-depth content. There are 40 films included with this progamme, each film is around 15 minutes.

This means that we can more effectively utilise our time together to deepen theory and focus on practice and application.  It also means the core teachings can be re-watched to review and consolidate your understanding.

Students completing the Art of Viniyoga course will receive the Foundation Certificate in Yoga Studies and be eligible for further Yoga teacher training or study programmes within the Sadhana Mala framework
